Quake Live may be the free-to-play version from the popular classic Quake 3. Re-released like a browser based FPS with slight graphic and gameplay updates Quake Live is likely to interest any fan of old school FPS mayhem. Quake is really a traditional FPS so there aren't ranks or levels. Players don't gain experience points but their stats including kills/deaths wins/losses and accuracy are recorded and made available online. Players can transform their avatars without notice since it doesn't have effect beyond cosmetics. There are five supported games modes and they are Free For All Those - A very common game mode for casual play. These usually possess a time limit but more often than not end when one player reaches the pre-set point requirement (usually 30.)
Team Death Match - Similar to FFA however the players are split into two teams with victory going on the team that collectively reaches the predetermined point value first.
Capture The Flag - Two teams battle out and make an attempt to bring the opponent s flag for their base. Individual players do receive points for fragging but the sole strategy to win a match would be to capture the flag and score capture points. Whichever team reaches the pre-set score requirement or has one from the most points when time ends is the winner.
Duel - a 1 v 1 test of skill. Just two players the other arena. Who ever gets one from the most frags wins.
Clan Arena - Two teams fight against each other but players usually do not respawn upon death until the round is over. The last man standing wins the round for his team.
